Solid yellow lines mark the center of the road for two-way traffic.
Solid white lines mark traffic lanes going in the same direction, e.g. one-way streets.
Broken yellow lines next to your driving lane mean that you can pass.
Broken white lines separate two or more traffic lanes going in the same direction.
Two solid yellow lines indicate that no passing is allowed. You should never drive to the left of these lines, except for the below described situations:

  • If you are in a High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane which has an entrance marked on the left.
  • Asked to drive on the other side of the road due to construction or other road-specific situations.
